Frequently Asked Questions

What is ArbNet?

ArbNet is a unique national tree contracting network.

Membership is open to any legitimate tree works contractor - subject to registration, assessment of competence and health and safety compliance, and regular auditing of delivered work.

Benefits to membership are clear and will continually build. ArbNet is not just a directory or a membership scheme - it connects contractors directly to clients and flows of real work across the UK.

ArbNet provides clients with:

  • A single source to find the right contractor for the right job at the right time.
  • Peace of mind that competency and Health & Safety issues have been vetted and regularly audited.
  • A quality, consistently delivered service anywhere in UK.

Health and Safety is key. ArbNet is the UK's only certification body of its type for the Tree Surgery & Landscaping Industry.

Who are ArbNet Clients?

The combined strength of ArbNet contactors provides a truly national service, delivered regionally and locally. The advantages of this unique resource are marketed to any potential client across all types of market, including banks, insurers, loss adjusters and remedial engineers, building developers, and other corporate organisations. Current clients already putting work into member contractors include some of the UK's major high street names.

How does ArbNet work?

ArbNet devotes considerable time, effort and resource into assuring that every contractor is qualified to join, and maintains the required standards by continually auditing for competency and Heath & Safety. In addition, new business is sought out and signed up, and existing clients nurtured - building and maintaining the pipeline of work.

Any ArbNet contractor having reached and maintained the required standards is eligible to receive work from clients. This is allocated on a postcode basis and may involve competitive tendering in some circumstances.

What will I get from membership of ArbNet?

  1. Continuous flow of new work
ArbNet is unique in that it is not just an approved list or membership scheme, it is a pipeline of work - it connects work from blue-chip clients and feeds it directly to an individual contractor. Although levels of work clearly change over time and location, all work is made available without individual members having to put in any additional effort in securing jobs.
  2. Association with a scheme that has a quality and Health and Safety 'stamp'
ArbNet is a mark of quality, competency and compliance with safety. It is a quality 'brand' in the market. Contractors are able to use this certification to support all areas of their business - it sets them apart.
  3. Website and Other Support
The website is a continually growing resource of information, advice, document libraries, and your own area to store your own documentation. You can also browse industry news and useful links, and catch up with new benefits as they come on stream.
  4. Strength in Depth
ArbNet provides contractors with an opportunity to receive work from large scale and national contracts that otherwise wouldn't be directly available to them. The combined message and strength in numbers of ArbNet also means that other group benefits are available. For example, once you have registered and logged in you will find a Public Indemnity insurance application form. Send it in and it will be used to secure a quote for you at preferential rates.

The message we are spreading is that not all contractors should be tarred with the same brush - why should you be penalised on your insurance for contractors who cannot or will not adhere to the same professional standards as you?

How do I join ArbNet?

Any contractor already notified of the scheme by post need do nothing new as your details are already on file. And you user name and password to login to the site will be with you automatically.

For new contractors coming across ArbNet for the first time, simply follow the registration process online, which will cover all of the requirements.

What happens if I don't meet the criteria?

We are always providing feedback and support. If for any reason you fail to meet the required standards - on application, or at anytime future during auditing - we will ensure that you understand why so that you can take the required remedial action.
